Policies and Procedures
Humane Treatment Policy
It is the policy of Mary's Dog House to treat humanely all animals in its care. This
includes but is not limited to the use of professional, industry accepted
equipment and products, safe restraint and handling procedures, and safe
enclosures for holding dogs. All grooming techniques, equipment, and products
are designed to be safe and non-injurious. Every effort will be made to ensure a
safe and satisfying experience for you and your pet. Pets needing veterinary care
will be referred for treatment before grooming can be completed. Severely matted
dogs will be clipped short.
Muzzles will be used if necessary for dog and
groomer safety. Please ask if you have any questions, or how you can work
together with your groomer to provide a safe and pleasant grooming session for
your dog.

How do we do it?
  • We use a pressurized, massaging pump system for bathing to ensure that every nook and cranny is fresh,
    clean and conditioned!
  • No heat drying! We protect your pet by using a high speed forced air dryer to get most of the water out of your
pet's coat, and finish drying in a holding crate using only ambient temperature fans.
  • Grooming tables adjust for the size of the dog, and larger dogs are supported and restrained front and rear for
    safety.

General Policies

Pets are scheduled by appointment in order to ensure adequate time for each pet. Please try to be on time
for your appointment, a delay may mean rescheduling. Please do not return before you are called or your
scheduled pickup time as your presence WILL get your pet excited and we may not be able to safely
complete the grooming! In the event of a cancellation due to weather or other unforeseeable conditions you
will be notified by phone as soon as possible. On occasion, the shop may be closed to allow us to attend
seminars, trade shows, dog shows, or other professional or personal events.

Appointments often fill very quickly. In order to provide the best service possible, we are unable to
"squeeze" one more in. Please allow adequate time to schedule an appointment, several days for a
weekday, and at least a week for Saturday and holiday appointments. Prebooking is available at any interval,
and may be scheduled up to 6 months in advance.

We expect that our clients will maintain their pet's vaccinations as recommended by their veterinarian.
Current rabies vaccine is absolutely required (cats must show proof of rabies vaccine prior to grooming).
Please do not bring ill pets in for grooming- we will be happy to reschedule your appointment after your pet
is well again! Any pets coming in with fleas will receive a flea shampoo, and the charge will be added to the
total cost of grooming. Additional charges may apply for matted pets, aggressive pets, and special needs
pets. Badly matted dogs may need to be completely shaved.

Mary's Dog House reserves the right to refuse services to pets with serious medical or behavioral issues.
We will be happy to work with you, your vet, and pet training professionals to resolve the issues so that
grooming can be safely completed for pet and groomer.
Consider booking your pet for bath, brush, and freshen up services in between full groomings!
